Wessex, is a trading name of Flights Hallmark Limited. Initially known as 'Wessex Connect’, a rebrand in 2011 resulted in the 'Connect’ element of the name being dropped.
Bus operation began in Bristol in April 2007 under the trading name of Wessex Connect; by June of that year the bus business of South Gloucestershire Bus and Coach Company had been acquired and rapid growth has followed.
With a presence in the area since 2007, the Wessex Connect brand has grown from strength to strength. Services have been developed across the contracted and commercial sector with growth seen in Local Authority contracts and the 'UniConnect' brand that was recently introduced at the University of Bath.
In September 2011, Wessex officially opened a depot in Avonmouth acting as the Regional Offices for the South West operations. A further depot established in Keynsham near Bath adds to the operations for South West Region.
Moving forward, Rotala aim to expand in the South West, both geographically and functionally, by providing a cost effective alternative within the existing public transport market.
